Thought For The Day 08/02/12

Just Look Up!

Often people attempt to live their lives backwards; they try to have more
things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want, so they will be
happier.  The way it actually works is the reverse.  You must first be who you
really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you want.

I am very blessed to have so very many contacts who forward to me inspirational pictures and stories through my email  as well as Facebook accounts. As a matter of fact, you all are welcome to do the same should you find something crossing your computer screen that touches you in a special way. Just send (or forward) it to, and if it is as special for me as it was for you, you may just find it appearing here on my blog page.

One of those people who sends me many, many emails is my dad and while there are some of his posts I do not share, every once in a while a wonderful one appears in my in box like some beautifully wrapped gift just waiting for me to tear open the ribbons and paper. Now, as with so many things that circulate through cyberspace, the one he forwarded to me just the other day has no originating identifiers telling us the name of its author. But is does have a section at the very bottom that encourages sharing it and so I am taking the liberty of doing so today right here! And if you find it worthwhile, by all means, go ahead and share this blog with another of your friends. Who knows…….MandysPath might just go viral in the process!

So what exactly do a buzzard, a bat, a bumblebee and people all have in common? Well this post is about to tell you and I suspect, it will open a few eyes, in the process. Everything that comes to us via any one of our five senses and that is new  information as well, serves to teach us a very important life lesson. And whether that information is some overt lesson of specific Biblical knowledge, or merely like the piece I share with you today, if we have managed to not just learn something of value about our world but also ourself in the process, then we are very fortunate, indeed.

The Buzzard
If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 ft by 8 ft and it is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner.
The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of 10 to 12 ft.
Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain for life in a small jail with no top!
The Bat
The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkable nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place.
If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air.
Then, at once, it takes off like a flash!
The Bumblebee
A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out.
It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom.
It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys itself!
In many ways people are like the buzzard, the bat and the bumblebee.
We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look up!
That’s the answer, the escape route and the solution to any problem…..
Sorrow looks back and worry looks around.
But FAITH looks up!
Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and trust in our creator who loves us!

But we impart a secret and hidden  wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the  rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have  crucified the Lord of glory. But, as it is written,”What no eye has seen, nor  ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who  love him”

1 Corinthians 2: 7-9

15 Therefore I will praise thee for ever all the days of my life: for all the powers of the heavens do praise thee, and thine is the glory for ever and ever.
Prayer of Manasses 1: 15
KJV with Apocrypha
