United We Stand!

When an American says that he loves his country, he means not only that he loves the New England hills, the prairies glistening in the sun, the wide and rising
plains, the great mountains, and the sea. He means that he loves an inner air, an inner light in which freedom lives and in which a man can draw the breath of
self-respect.

Adlai Stevenson

On Tuesday, November 6, 2012, the world bore witness to something truly amazing! They witnessed the very special day when we Americans celebrate the hard-fought but well-earned privilege that is afforded to us. DEMOCRACY……..something which marks the very foundations upon which this nation was created. Yes, all eyes are focused and witnessing the process of electing to office one of the most significant positions of strength and leadership in the world. And despite the likelihood that the decision will not be reached absolutely by the end of the day given the tragic effects to the northeastern states  by Superstorm Sandy as well as other inevitable snafus, ultimately the die will be cast and the choice made. And not a moment too soon. Because whichever candidate is chosen by a majority of our electoral college to be the next leader of our nation, we are nevertheless a broken nation in so many ways.

That to state vigorously that we must write a new chapter in American history is not just warranted but an absolutely necessity, as well. It is time we return to the days of “We The People” and “One Nation Under God”! It is a time to join together as a unified country of people working one with the other once more, to fix our problems. It is a time to abandon strict allegiance to party lines and philosophy to the total exclusion of everything else. Because as the saying “United We Stand, Divided We Fall” goes, if we do not change, we will become known as the greatest nation that once was!

___

Yes, “out of many, one”, which is what is meant by “E Pluribus Unum”, the phrase that was once our nation’s unofficial motto, and which continues to this day to hold a position of note, beginning when the Great Seal of the United States was created and adopted in 1782. And rediscovering the reasons we were founded as a nation under God is an absolute imperative! We have spent so long trying to cater to each freedom that our constitution protects that we forget the biggest one of them all…..the one that mattered from the time of the voyage of the Mayflower to present day. And we must stop trying to act as if the very mention of the word is a huge embarrassment to our citizens. GOD! It is, after all, “In God We Trust”, not in man we trust. So lets return, in a manner of speaking, to the kinder and gentler time of yesteryear, when man knew which side of his bread was buttered and when nearly every home had at least one Bible! True change for any country begins with the one who reigns above all!

There’s nowhere in the world that I would rather be,
Than with you my love
And there’s nothing in the world that I would rather see,
Than your smile my love
~
(Chorus)
For united we stand, Divided we fall
And if our backs should ever be against the wall
We’ll be together, together, you and I
~
For united we stand, Divided we fall
And if our backs should ever be against the wall
We’ll be together, together, you and I
~
And if the world around you falls apart my love,
Then I’ll still be here
And if the going gets too hard along the way,
Just you call, I’ll hear
~
(Chorus)
For united we stand, Divided we fall
And if our backs should ever be against the wall
We’ll be together, together, you and I
~
For united we stand, Divided we fall
And if our backs should ever be against the wall
We’ll be together, together, you and I
