“Love doesn’t make the world go round. Love makes the ride worthwhile.”

___

Love makes the world go ’round.
Love makes the world go ’round.
Somebody soon will love you,
If no one loves you now.

High in some silent sky
Love sings a silver song
Making the earth whirl softly
Love makes the world go ’round.

___

Now I may be going out on a limb here by what I am going to say now, but true to the words from the song written by Bob Merrill for the 1961 musical Carnival!, I must agree that it is, indeed, love that makes life worth living as this big ole world turns round and round and round. No, it may not cause the earth to spin but it most certainly does makes the ride worth while! Blasphemy, some of you cry? Isn’t the truth of the matter that it is God and faith that is responsible for the deed? Well, think about this for a moment. It is because of the loving and caring heart that was gifted to man by the Almighty, that we travel through our days as we walk the earth, seeking to make the world which we all share the best place we can possibly make it! And while there are always those who will buck the system in their attempts to undermine that which benefits everyone because it somehow doesn’t fit in with their particular plans for the lives they live, still for the majority of the world’s population, it is to live in peace and harmony in a world that values all contributions that truly makes life worthwhile!

___

Paying lip service to your faith is not the thing that guarantees our entrance into heaven. Showing up to your worship service or reading the Bible at home is not our ticket to salvation. It is, rather, those who do God’s will and act and live in accordance with His command, that will pass through the “Pearly Gates”! Yes, we are asked to believe but we are also told to let those beliefs direct our words and deeds. True believers do not just live for the Lord but they must love for the Lord, as well. After all, 1 John 4:8 ESV says, Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. And as Romans 8:28 ESV reinforces, And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

___

Each of us has been gifted with a share in this gift of love along with our faith to embrace and to pass on as part of our legacy we share with future generations. So let us all find God’s living and loving spirit moving through us as we live each day. It is a tremendous responsibility we have all been entrusted with but it is how we will be able to share with the world that there remains always a presence of Christ existing in the world, even today. Yes, let your love through your faith make the world go ’round!

___

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his   covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him.

Deuteronomy 7:9 NIV
