Where God Ain’t!
WHERE GOD AIN’T!
He was just a little lad, and on the week’s first day,
Was wandering home from Sunday School, and dawdling on the way.
He scuffed his shoes into the grass; he found a caterpillar
He found a fluffy milkweed pod, and blew out all the filler.
A bird’s nest in a tree o’er head so wisely placed and high
Was just another wonder caught by his eager eye.
A neighbor watched his zig zag course, and hailed him from the lawn
Asked him where he’d been that day, and what was going on.
“Oh, I’ve been to Sunday School, (He carefully turned a sod,
And found a snail beneath it); I’ve learned a lot about God”
“M’m’m, a very fine way,” the neighbor said, “for a boy to spend his time;
If you’ll tell where God is I’ll give you a brand new dime.”
Quick as a flash his answer came! Nor were his accents faint –
“I’ll give you a dollar mister, if you tell me where God ain’t.”
Think about what this little boy has said and then think about this one thing. EVERYTHING in the scriptures begins and ends with a word that has but three tiny letters. And yet join those three tiny letters together, and you create a power so great that the word they form is known to every single one of the six billion people who inhabit our planet! And whether or not those very same people choose to hold Him within their hearts, make no mistake that they all recognize His name! Yes, some may think of God as something impersonal such as a life force. Others view Him as the Creator of all things. Others see God as Mother Nature. But no matter how you view the letters G~O~D, those of faith see Him through the truth we can find within the pages of His divinely inspired word.
God has existed and will exist for all time. He was there in the beginning. Genesis 1:1-2 NIV, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” He was there thousands of years later, when His son walked the earth. John 1:1-3 NIV “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” And He will be there when man’s time is over. Revelation 20:7-10 NIV, ” When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”
So how can I say with such confidence and certainty that there is a God? Is it because I have read His word in the Bible? Do I have the same heart of the little boy whose story you read above? Well, it’s none of these things, and it’s all of them! You see, all we both did (and do, as a matter of fact), is to open our eyes and take a really good look at the wonders of our world. The proof of God’s existence can be found in the billions of hues in the color green that paints the grass under our feet, or the ruby red beauty of the cardinal’s feathers, or the delicate yellow of a buttercup, or the beauty of a rainbow. See the wonders of His creations, and I dare you to come to me and to say that there is not a God!!!!!!!!!
“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law…”
