Thought For The Day 09/06/13

This Little Light Of Mine!

let it shine

Light gives of itself freely, filling all available space.  It does not seek anything in return; it asks not whether you are friend or foe.  It gives of itself and is not thereby diminished.

Michael Strassfeld

Sometimes it’s not our words that share the best parts of us to others. Sometimes it is our works! It is the part of us that dwells, hidden within, until the singular moment we see a need, and then we act. It is our heart and our spirit that envelopes those who are near us. And it’s not anything we control. It is, simply, our inner light shining forth….the light of God that shines from our hearts.

A friend of my father received a gift some time ago. It was a very special candle holder. You see, it comes with a story written by a very special woman of faith, and the story appears below!  It is a testament of the beauty of our human spirit, despite of, and because of, all of our human dents, dings and flaws!

My father’s friend who brought this story to our attention was so moved by what she was told about this special candle holder, that she decided to share it with some friends on AOL. And like a snow ball rolling down hill, the tale is gathering more and more followers along the way!  My father shared it with his friends, including me. And now I am sharing it with all of you. Yes, how mighty that snow ball has grown!

And I think that this story deserves to be shared far and wide, and because I wanted to give the real author of this story the credit she so richly deserves, I entered her name into my search browser and I discovered a website for her business as well as her contact information, which I have included, as well!

The Witness Crock

We all have been made by the Potter.

He has made each of us beautiful vases, crocks, pitchers

or whatever shape He has chosen.

But beauty needs to come from within.

One side is the perfect side we wish we were.

Someone who has gone through life without any hurts.

Now see the cracks, the small slits, the holes and the dents.

This is the mental or verbal abuse we endured.

This is the divorce.

This crack is the death we did not understand that wounded us so badly.

The devil says, “what good are you, you can not even hold water.

You have been rejected so much, who would want you?”

God loves you and wants you.

When you yield to Jesus, you will never be lost and alone again.

When you accept Jesus, you become part of a family

that will love you, stand beside you and teach you.

Now watch the miracle that is God’s love as a candle is lit.

God’s love shines through the cracks and holes.

His love for us is a protection, that nothing can hurt us as badly, again.

He wants our love to shine through the cracks and reach a lost world

that feels they are too broken to be loved by such a wonderful God.

Tell your healing. Tell the love you have felt.

Let God’s love shine through you to reach His lost children.

May this crack be a tool in your witnessing.

May God bless you in your journey.

nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:15-16
