Thought For The Day 09/30/13

The Knot Prayer

This is a portrait of Mary, the mother of Christ, untying the knots presented to her!

You have the power; awesomeness and courage to defeat conquer and crash through any barriers, obstacles and challenges that stand in your way. So be all you can be, and make the rest of your life the best of your life..

Yesterday, a friend posted a picture prayer that I saw. It was called “THE KNOT PRAYER”, and it was a prayer I had never heard before but it called to me, and I found myself drawn to the words. It almost seemed as if I was bewitched, but I know that it was actually God leading me to understand the role all of these “KNOTS” play in my life…..and in yours!

Now I found myself compelled to research the history of this prayer, which is Author Unknown in every picture I uncover. But then I discovered that for years, the Roman Catholic faithful have prayed aNovena to Our Lady Undoer of Knots.” And suddenly I understood about the “KNOTS” that those seeking her intervention, and those reciting “THE KNOT PRAYER”, were asking be untied! They are many, and they are exceedingly personal, but each and every one that ties us up, seeks to beat us down, infect our spirit, and keep us from a full and bountiful relationship with God!

Here is “THE KNOT PRAYER” that is circling the internet right this very minute through the wonder of social media. Following it is a prayer of petition to Mary, the Mother of our Lord and Savior, to help us with the task. It is a “PRAYER TO MARY, UNDOER OF KNOTS”, and as you read these prayers, look inwardly….into your hearts and minds….and identify which “KNOTS” are keeping you from leading a happy, and fulfilling, and faith filled life!

Dear God,

Please untie the knots that are in my mind, my heart, and my life.

Remove the have nots, can nots, and do nots

Erase the will nots, may nots, might nots that may find a home in my heart.

Release me from the could nots, would nots, should nots that obstruct my life..

And most of all, Dear God, I ask that you remove from my mind,

my heart, and my life all of the “am nots”  that I have allowed to hold me back.

Especially the thought that I am not good enough.

Virgin Mary, Mother of fair love, Mother who never refuses to come to the aid of a child in need, Mother whose hands never cease to serve your beloved children because they are moved by the divine love and immense mercy that exists in your heart, cast your compassionate eyes upon me and see the snarl of knots that exist in my life.

You know very well how desperate I am, my pain and how I am bound by these knots.

Mary, Mother to whom God entrusted the undoing of the knots in the lives of his children, I entrust into your hands the ribbon of my life. No one, not even the evil one himself, can take it away from your precious care. In your hands there is no knot that cannot be undone.

Powerful Mother, by your grace and intercessory power with Your Son and My Liberator, Jesus, take into your hands today this knot…I beg you to undo it for the glory of God, once for all, You are my hope.

O my Lady, you are the only consolation God gives me, the fortification of my feeble strength, the enrichment of my destitution and with Christ the freedom from my chains.

Hear my plea.
Keep me, guide me, protect me, o safe refuge!

Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me

I read the words of these two prayers, and I wanted to begin for everyone, a list of some of the things that I believe can have a negative impact on our lives. This list is merely a place to start. As you look to untie your own knots, I am certain you will uncover hundreds more. But to do this unburdening is vitally important. It will lighten your spirit and you may even discover the power within to repair some of the fractured relationships in your life!

  • The Knots of discord and of a fracturing of the family dynamic.
  • The Knots that impede the understanding between parents and their children.
  • The Knots of the heart that cause us to be disrespectful to others.
  • The Knots of anger that lead us to violence against out fellow man and the other living things that share our world.
  • The Knots that fracture committed relationships and which result in unhappiness in our homes.
  • The Knots of addiction.
  • The Knots of despondency, and sickness, and fear, and hopelessness.

The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?

When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.

One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.

For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.

Psalm 27:1-5
