The human race’s prospects of survival were considerably better when we were defenceless against tigers than they are today when we have become defenceless against ourselves.

Exposure Response Therapy or E.R.T., is the way that we treat many of the emotional disorders people suffer from. From Depression to Agoraphobia to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, rather than avoiding the difficult issue you are plagued with, E.R.T. directs you turn to the issue, face it armed with all your resolve and address how it makes you feel. In doing this, you are banishing the power this disorder holds over you. Now I am no psychological expert, but anything that empowers us seems good, in my book. If more people looked to take charge of their lives and accepted responsibility for their mistakes, the world, in my humble estimation, would be a supremely better place for man to live.

That is the gift that was given to us by God when he programmed us with the gene that gifted us with free will. Now from a perspective of faith, this gift presumes that our will and choices coexist with what it is we understand is God’s plan for man. But free will is always tempered with other components of the human psyche such as a code of ethics which holds us morally accountable for our actions and which, when combined with the checks and balances society has put in place by establishing laws, keeps our baser tendencies from seizing control. For the most part! You see, we continue to live in an era where we tend to see ourselves as being the center of the universe, at least from a philosophical perspective. Where our faith once served to temper those baser instincts we now see ourselves as the one controlling our moral compass. But what is the result? We have produced a generation of young people who lack discipline and who refuse to accept responsibility for their actions, each armed with an indifference to that which serves the greater good!

___

The time seems to have come where we are approaching a huge crossroads in life.  Has the time come for mankind to return to a simpler time of human existence? Has the time come for mankind to return to a time of respect and concern for our neighbors? Has the time come for mankind to once again accept responsibility for the way we behave and the things we do? Do we want to continue in that downward spiral of indifference? Are we prepared to face God’s final word on human existence? Are we prepared to face the predictions given in the book of Revelations?

___

He said to me: “It is done.   I am the Alpha and the Omega,   the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost   from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious   will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars —they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur.   This is the second death.”

Revelations 21:6-8 NIV
