The A B C’s Of Change!

Post 1392

It  may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for  it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you  cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched  or go bad.

C.  S. Lewis

The picture I chose for today’s post illustrates perfectly some A B C life lessons well worth remembering. However, the A B C’s of faith and of changing each heart must also start somewhere and it seems to me like the place to start all new projects is to do a thorough evaluation of our motivations. Yes, when it comes to choosing to follow a faith filled path, usually we must first submit to God’s will and to try to figure out just exactly where it is He wants us to go. The thing is that most of us have no idea exactly where and what that is! But begin, we must, and since everything worth accomplishing starts with a single step… a step that begins at the beginning, I thought that it might be best accomplished by thinking about a few A B C D E’s of our own!

Our attitude matters most. If we are of a mind to trust and commit, we really need not have any fears because He always wants the very best for each of us!  Jeremiah 29:11 NIV says it best! “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Be ready to obey. Just like we are reticent to listen to someone we do not respect, so is it likely God won’t reveal His plan to our hearts if He knows already we are not likely to obey it! Which is why we are encouraged in Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT, to  Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Once you feel confident that you have made your choice, you must act on the choice and begin to incorporate the principles taught by Jesus. It is by leaning toward and learning from His wise counsel, that will enable you to move through your life, confident that he will be able to guide you and work His purpose through you! Romans 8:28 NIV tells us,  And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

There is nothing worthwhile in life that does not take hard work and meticulous attention to refining all of the specifics of that life choice. And living a faith filled and faithful life is no different. In fact, faith might require even more diligent attention since, if there is one lesson life teaches, it is that there will always be a naysayer out there that will seek to challenge or even destroy all that we are seeking to change. Do not become discouraged. Yes, you may have to resubmit you will again and again to God, but He waits patiently. You see, He knows that we must come to Him when the time is right for us. Hebrews 11:6 NIV tells us,  And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

Hebrews 11:1 NIV
