There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.

Just like learning to spell requires we know our ABC’s, learning things we need to know to grow in faith sometimes requires that we start at the beginning, where it all began. And for people who believe, that generally means the Bible. Now I am in no way an expert and since I have never led any kind of study, per se, into the Bible, I thought it might do me, and by association you, some good to see what others say about the starting point for understanding what we can about the journey God scripted for us. And fortunately for me, Dr. Bruce N. Cameron has published a Bible Study series through his CameronLaw.com project…. yes indeed, he is a lawyer, and perhaps just might be the exception to the joke, “What do you call a thousand lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? A good start!”. Anyway, there is a website available, http://www.gobible.org/bible/38.php, and you may find it helpful to you should you find yourself with an “itch” for some self-improvement in the area of faith!

Education and learning all that we can is something that no person can or should ever stop striving for. You see, learning fulfills our basic human need to satisfy something that is uniquely human… an insatiable curiosity. And, as far as I am concerned, that might just be the single greatest gift our maker endowed us with! Unfortunately, because all too often we think that we know it all… we think we have all the answers to the woes of the world… we all too often stop our efforts at making our world a better place to live in! And this is mankind’s biggest mistake, in my book. It is an attitude that results in our becoming complacent about everything in our life… from our relationships to our expectations.

1 John 1:8 NLT tells us, “If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.” But the willingness to learn new things forces us out of our comfort zone. It forces us to both understand and admit that we are not perfect. It forces us to understand and realize that there is always more that each of us can do. And becoming the very best we can be is probably the one thing that is the most pleasing to Him. After all, it is this need that allows our hearts to develop an infinite capacity to hold all of our wishes, hopes, desires and capacity to love. And it is these things that all draw us closer to Him. It certainly validates the faith He has in us and should also validate our faith in Him, as well! Are we not His messengers, after all? 1 Thessalonians 2:4 NLT says, “For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts.”

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
