Faith And Love!
A Cry for Help
Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, and all of the others, including Love.
One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all repaired their boats and left.
Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to persevere until the last possible moment.
When the island was almost sinking, Love decided to ask for help.
Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said, “Richness, can you take me with you?” Richness answered, “No I can’t..There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place for you here.”
Love decided to ask Vanity, who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel, “Vanity, please help me!” “I can’t help you Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat,” Vanity answered.
Sadness was close by so Love asked for help, “Sadness let me go with you.” “Oh…Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!”
Happiness passed by Love too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her!
Suddenly, there was a voice, “Come Love, I will take you.” It was an elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that he even forgot to ask the elder her name.
When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Love, realizing how much he owed the elder, asked Knowledge, another elder, “Who helped me?”
“It was Time,” Knowledge answered.
“Time?” asked Love. “But why did Time help me?
Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, “Because only Time is capable of understanding how great Love is.
I was thinking about the relationship between our faith and our capacity to both love and to be loved. And the amazing thing is that the more I thought and the more I read, the closer tied, the two concepts seemed to be! In fact, they really are so close as to be inseparable, when we really think about it. Because to love and know that the love we offer to another will be accepted takes about as much faith as a human is capable of holding! It is also the greatest gift that was bestowed to mankind by our maker, because it is not just our human capacity to love one another that matters but it is that Divine Love which belongs to or is a part of God, possessing His Nature and composed of His Substance, which, when possessed by a human soul to a sufficient degree, makes us divine, as well, since it leads us to a pathway toward eternal life and everlasting happiness in His Kingdom on high.
As I was digging up some information about the two, I happened upon the following website: http://hopefaithprayer.com/faith/love-and-faith/. God told “the Faith Mechanic” to write and how right He was! He beautifully describes to us what both Love and Faith do and how the two impact our lives!
What Love Does
John 3:16 NASB
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
God’s love gives to the world, so that they can have faith in Him.
When we operate in God’s love we give. Walking in God’s love is God’s motivation to change the world, to endure all obstacles, and to exhibit his will to the world.
I John 4:12 NASB
No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.
When we walk in God’s love the world sees Him in us. His love is exhibited in us.
What Faith Does
I John 5:4 NASB
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world– our faith. (emphasis added)
Our faith overcomes the world, so that the love of God may abound.
When we operate in faith we are overcomers. Faith is God’s method of changing the world, to overcome all obstacles, and to enforce his will in the world.
I John 5:5 NASB
Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
When we walk in faith the world sees His authority in us.
When Love and Faith Work Together
I Corinthians 13:7-8 NASB
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails
God’s love in our hearts actually does the believing.
Ephesians 5:2 NASB
walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us….
Romans 5:5 NASB
..hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Love turns our hopes into faith.
When Faith and Love Work Together
Jude 20 NASB
But you beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, (21) keeping yourselves in the love of God….
Faith only truly exists within the heart, while God’s love is active.
II Corinthians 5:7 NASB
for we walk by faith, not by sight…
Galatians 5:6 NASB
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.
Our faith does the work of love’s desires.
