The Ark

Always remember to hope for the best but to prepare for the worst. After all, never forget that it wasn’t raining when Noah built the Ark!

Amanda Pierce Bruscella

___

Having developed a close friendship over the last year with people who foster and care for animals as well as some animal sanctuary programs, and discovering all of the logistical difficulties of making provisions for and then caring for some small species of animals, I am positively awe-struck at what a monumental task would have been brought to bear by Noah and his family on the ark. And even when assuming that the animals for the purposes of practicality simply relating to size alone, must have been quite young, the amount of food and water needed  and the resultant wastes produced for the approximately 16,000 animals (the accounting of which is done in the most rudimentary of fashions) positively boggles the mind. Certainly, when remembering the ventilation and fresh air needs (although people in those days probably were not as aware of the odors involved since it is only in more recent times that man and beasts have been housed in separate quarters) to offset the inevitable accumulation of things like toxic methane gasses which might just prove harmful not only to the animals but their human caretakers, as well, I must ask how in the world all of this was managed by one family for 40 or so days?

___

The design of the vessel alone was pure, God inspired certainly, genius! And while the rendering above is not a proven design for the ark, it seems likely that Noah and the small number (7) of family members that were entrusted with this mission by God, certainly planned for the logistics of not working harder but working smarter. Animal species that could live together in harmony and safety, probably were housed en masse.

___

Even for animals needing more specialized foods to meet dietary needs which would have been guaranteed them in their natural habitat, probably were fed similar types of foods as the rest, and which most likely consisted of plant products and grains which could have been more easily stored. Meat eaters may have been fed with dried fish and meat which would not have been difficult to store for the journey. The goal here, after all was not really to thrive but was, instead, simple survival! Water most likely was shared by use of conduits feeding it into troughs.

___

Certainly the availability of water was never an issue. And with the feeding of so many, comes the inevitable by-product …. waste. Slatted and sloped flooring would have allowed wastes to fall through where it would have more easily been cleaned. The motion of the Ark as it rode the flooded seas, would have helped to dissipate accumulated gasses and kept the vessel habitable for the duration of the journey.

___

Now there are many out there who doubt that this event really occurred. There are some who view it being related in the Bible simply as a metaphor for explaining the consequences for sin. We know that the world as it was known then was not the world as we know it to be today, either in size or in scope. However, nearly every faith including Christianity, Islam and Judaism speak of the story. And while there has not yet been offered definitive proof for the flooding, it is certainly plausible to think about the melting of polar ice causing a rapid rise of many, many feet in the Black sea, likely causing massive regional flooding. Then again, putting aside trying to find logical explanations for the story, perhaps this is simply another way of asking us to believe something in the absence of absolutes. We who believe, are asked to do this often. We always have been and we always will! Isn’t this, after all, part of what we are taught about everything related to God? All that comprises the very essence of belief is accepting that for which we have no evidentiary proof and is that not the definition of FAITH?

___

“And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.”

Genesis 7:23 KJV

The Hardest Job In The World

39 years ago today I started work at the hardest job I ever had. There have been days (many, many) where I didn’t want to even get out of bed and face the day because of it. It’s a job of 90 : 10 percent give : get back …. and don’t ever let anyone tell you it’s 50 :50 percent because they are just plain WRONG! It’s a job that breaks your back, gives you migraines and, at times, makes you rue t he day you were born. You struggle, yell and even hate sometimes (OK, maybe hate is a bit strong….let’s amend that to dislike intensely). All in all, it’s a job no one in their right mind would want, right? NO!!!!!!!! It’s a job millions and millions have entered into despite the statistical probability that about 50% of those who have tried this job will fail. What is this horrible sounding job, you wonder?????? MARRIAGE!!!!!!

The Most Wonderful Job In The World

39 years ago today I started work at the most wonderful job I ever had. There have been days (many, many) where I faced the morning sun with such joy in my heart because of it. It’s a job that makes you want to give 100% of yourself because the reward you get back is priceless! It’s a job that lifts your spirit, brings a song to your heart and makes you grateful every day that you were born so that you would be brought to this place. You laugh, praise it to all who will listen and love it each and every day. All in all, it’s a job that is so fulfilling that it’s hard to imagine anyone in their right mind who wouldn’t want to do it, right? YES!!!!!!!! It’s a job millions and millions have entered into because the statistical probability is that 50% of those who have tried this job will succeed. What is this wonderful sounding job, you wonder?????? MARRIAGE!!!!!!

We Learn What We Live

Post 1181

___

The young always have the same problem – how to rebel and conform at the same time.  They have now solved this by defying their parents and copying one another.

Quentin Crisp

http://quotegarden.com/teenagers.html

___

Never before in my lifetime has the speech of so many young people been peppered so liberally with the prolific use of 4 Letter words. From music to writings, to the conversations overheard in the local shopping mall food court, profanity has become as common place as are cell phones and the home PC! Now I do not know whether the goal of so many of the world’s youth is to shock or to simply rebel against the authority adulthood represents, but if that is the case, it is working! The language of today’s youth is capable of making a sailor blush! However, whatever the goal is, it does seem to be the mission of the youth of the world to shock and dare at every opportunity. It existed in my early teen years, AKA the “free love” generation. It was to be found in the 50’s era of swiveling, Elvis like, hips and teens emulating James Dean in “Rebel Without a Cause”. Heavens, it was the goal of young people when men wore “Zoot Suits” and flappers bared knees. And no doubt, if we had the capacity of time travel, we probably would have found the same pinched faces and gritted teeth of adults bemoaning just what has happened to young people even 2000 years ago!

___

Transitioning through the teen years and becoming an adult is no easy task. Faced with a world at war, and the starved faces of children staring back through pictures brought into every home by news media, can not help but create a negative effect on the world’s young men and women who are trying to figure out exactly what their role will be in life. They see members of the American Congress who will not budge an inch either way toward the bi-partisanship that is needed to unify not just our country, but the world, as well! They see religious factions acting in ways that are anything but religious as women and children seeking an education are mutilated and disfigured throughout the Middle East. How can we expect that our youth will grow into adulthood as individuals willing to change the world for good when the only example they see growing up is one of hatred, anger and apathy?

___

For my money, the answer is simple. The buck stops here! It stops with all of the adults in the world! Children do not just happen. They do not emerge from the womb with a fully established sense of morals and values. Children are created by the example they see every second that they live. They require nurturing and love and all the advantages we can possible find within to give them. It became our responsibility and debt to them the moment they were conceived!

___

Some of you might recall that I posted a picture not long ago on my “Heroes For Children” social media page for the Guardian ad Litem program here in SC, which pretty much sums it all up. I like to call it “If A Child Lives With…..”. I am sharing it with you today here in this blog. Read it carefully, memorize every sentence and store each word away in your heart where they will always be near at hand for you not just to remember, but to share with a child, every opportunity that you get. After all, do we not owe it to the children of the world to help them become responsible, caring and moral adults? Are they not our only hope for a world where our tomorrows are better that our yesterdays were?

Just What Is The Attraction?

Post 1167

___

___
Oh, the comfort – the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person – having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away.

Dinah Craik
“A Life for a Life” (1859)
___
How often have you seen two people together and the very first thought that jumps int your head is, “What in the world do they see in each other?” And unless we are one of the two people involved, that is an essential truth that can be asked about nearly any couple we encounter. Yes, on occasion we see that couple who, by the very closeness of not just their relationship but their love, seem to somehow morph into twins. Think about any really happily married couple you know that has been together for many decades and you find not just similar features staring back at you as they stand side-by-side, but also like mannerisms and tastes, as well.  And yet, ask most people dating out there if they want to find someone who resembles or even complements their personality, and the large majority would answer, “Not on your everlasting life!”
___
People who are very different are exciting. They nudge us into living a bit more vicariously, for the moment. Perhaps they show us, for one fleeting moment, the person we wish we could be, because when you get right down to it, there are few of us who are completely happy with the person we are. Who out there doesn’t have that secret desire to live a life totally opposite from what we show the world every day? And yet, what we really find is that the most successful relationships are not those that make us want to redefine who we are. They are relationships who want to help us to become a better “us”!
___
People with similar tastes and passions as those we hold generally validate our beliefs and views. People with similar tastes and passions generally find themselves with fewer conflicts in their relationship. And yet, studies also prove that couples whose personalities were more alike actually formed happier long-term relationships than those whose attitudes regarding things like values and even issues of faith were aligned. And most certainly, those who try to form a relationship built upon the  fires of passion and intense physical attraction have the least amount of long-term success.
___

Relationships are a gift. Man is by his very nature an incredible social animal who needs the kinds of emotional security and bonding that are to be found in solid relationships with others. We know this to be true from the Bible’s earliest writings about the Garden of Eden! Man can not be happy alone and although not all people choose to establish life partnerships one with the other,  all require the intimacy that those special one-on-one relationships with another human being affords us, even when that is fostered by a close friendship. The happier we each can be, the better people we become and that translates into each of us becoming a better spouse or partner, family member, friend, acquaintance, neighbor, and even Christian! And, of course, adding to the mix each sharing a common relationship with the Almighty forms that three-fold cord……a bond as unbreakable as iron!

___

Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?    Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

___

We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.

Thornton Wilder

 http://www.quotegarden.com/gratitude.html

___

We are Christians! And with the acknowledgement of that comes another indisputable fact. We will all, at some time or another, face the stings and barbs of others who do not share our beliefs and who will work their hardest to undermine that which we hold to be the truth within our own hearts. This fact is an absolute!

___

Just as Jesus was persecuted, so will many who openly profess their belief in God be persecuted. And with that persecution comes  hurt and pain and sometimes even feelings of despondency. But never forget the special gift he gave to each of us by his promise of eternal life. And while the trials I face might just cause me to fear at time my mortal life as I understand it to be, never, ever, have I feared for my immortal soul!

___

The blog of a friend was where I was introduced to a very special song. And the story of the young artist who wrote it is just as special and unique.

___

Gifted artist Laura Story wrote the hit song, “Indescribable”, which was recorded by Chris Tomlin in 2004. However her trials at God’s hands were just beginning.

___

She married the next year, and began working in the music ministry at Perimeter Church in Atlanta. She won a Dove award for Inspirational Album in 2008, but the acclaim wasn’t without triumphing over tragedy. Her beloved husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2006. And while her husband hasn’t been completely healed, she is very thankful for the blessings God did choose to bestow upon her family!

___

Her song, “Blessings”, is a reflection of the hopeful place that God led her family to. And it is my hope that you who might also be feeling hurt or pain now, will hear this beautiful song and finally be able to find that “silver lining” that has seemed to be missing in your life!

___

Blessings

by Laura Story

We pray for blessings, we pray for peace.
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep.
We pray for healing, prosperity.
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering.
All the while, You hear each spoken need.
Your love is way too much to give us lesser things.

Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops?
What if your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near?

What if trials of this night, are Your mercies in disguise?
We pray for wisdom, Your voice to hear.
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near.
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love.
As if every promise from Your word is not enough.
All, the while, You hear each desperate plea.
And long that we’d have faith to believe.

Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops?
What if your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near?

What if trials of this night, are Your mercies in disguise?
When friends betray us, when darkness seems to win;
We know that pain reminds this heart, that this is not,
this is not our home. It’s not our home.

Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops?
What if your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near?

What if my greatest disappointments, or the aching of this life;
Is a revealing of greater thirst that a world can’t satisfy?
And what if trials of this life, the rain, the storms, the hardest nights;
Are Your mercies in disguise?

___

I am waxing nostalgic today. You see, it is the anniversary of the day exactly one year ago, that I was forced to face the realization, that our relationships with those we love are fleeting and finite. Yes, I knew it to be so….in my head, at least. I watched my grandparents age and pass away as well as my mother. But I had not thought about it in terms of Dan or myself, despite the fact that we have both battled our share of illnesses over the years. After all, aren’t we the same people who wore Nehru jackets, bell bottoms and love beads only yesterday?

___

Yes, I am not blind. I see a face looking back at me from the mirror that looks vaguely like the one I see when I close my eyes….albeit a bit “fluffier” and “grayer”. But I never thought about my life in terms that find me rapidly approaching my twilight rather than my dawn. But when my love developed chest pains, and I thought a heart attack was at hand, that is the singular moment that I knew all bets were off that we still had 50 years of living left to do….together.

___

James 4:14 NIV, reminds us about the brief time of man’s existence. “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” And I supposed this is why we must “Carpe Diem” and run with it as fast as we can. We must see each dawn with a new eye and a renewed appreciation for all of the things we have, up till now, tended to take for granted. But never forget the caveat contained in 1 Corinthians 10:23 NIV, “I have the right to do anything,” you say–but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything,”–but not everything is constructive.”

___

Embrace those who matter, but embrace those who don’t, even more. And no, I am not thinking about the adage, keep your friends close but keep your enemies closer. I am asking that we always remember that when the day of judgement  is at hand we will not be measured by what we have but by what we do. It’s not enough to be good at living. Instead, we must make our living, a living for good!

___

Live, Laugh and Love with your near and dear and not so dear, because the gift of today’s joy may not be there for us as we turn the corner into tomorrow! It is something I will remember from this day forward as I banish the words “for worse” from my vocabulary. I vow that the days I share with the man I love will always be “for better”, from this day forward, whether it is for 1 day or 100,000 days!

___

“You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard lest, being carried away by the error of unprincipled men, you fall from your own steadfastness.”

Matthew, the Apostle

Author of today’s Gospel

St. Matthew, one of the twelve Apostles, is the author of the first Gospel. This has been the constant tradition of the Church and is confirmed by the Gospel itself. He was the son of Alpheus and was called to be an Apostle while sitting in the tax collectors place at Capernaum. Before his conversion he was a publican, i.e., a tax collector by profession. He is to be identified with the “Levi” of Mark and Luke.

His apostolic activity was at first restricted to the communities of Palestine. Nothing definite is known about his later life. There is a tradition that points to Ethiopa as his field of labor; other traditions mention of Parthia and Persia. It is uncertain whether he died a natural death or received the crown of martyrdom.

St. Matthew’s Gospel was written to fill a sorely felt want for his fellow countrymen, both believers and unbelievers. For the former, it served as a token of his regard and as an encouragement in the trial to come, especially the danger of falling back to Judaism; for the latter, it was designed to convince them that the Messiah had come in the personof Jesus, our Lord, in Whom all the promises of the Messianic Kingdom embracing all people had been fulfilled in a spiritual rather than in a carnal way: “My Kingdom is not of this world.” His Gospel, then, answered the question put by the disciples of St. John the Baptist, “Are You He Who is to come, or shall we look for another?”

Writing for his countrymen of Palestine, St. Matthew composed his Gospel in his native Aramaic, the “Hebrew tongue” mentioned in the Gospel and the Actsof the Apostles. Soon afterward, about the time of the persecution of Herod Agrippa I in 42 AD, he took his departure for other lands. Another tradition places the composition of his Gospel either between the time of this departure and the Council of Jerusalem, i.e., between 42 AD and 50 AD or even later. Definitely, however, the Gospel, depicting the Holy City with its altar and temple as still existing, and without any reference to the fulfillment of our Lord’s prophecy, shows that it was written before the destruction of the city by the Romans in 70 AD, and this internal evidence confirms the early traditions.

Matthew 21:1-11 NIV

Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King

As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”

This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:

“Say to Daughter Zion,
‘See, your king comes to you,
gentle and riding on a donkey,
and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”

The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,

“Hosanna to the Son of David!”

“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”

“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”

The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

Today’s Gospel Reading

Matthew 26:14-30 NIV

Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus

Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. 16 From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

The Last Supper

On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”

He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.

When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. And while they were eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.”

They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, “Surely you don’t mean me, Lord?”

Jesus replied, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me. The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said, “Surely you don’t mean me, Rabbi?”

Jesus answered, “You have said so.”

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”

Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”

When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Our Second Reading

Isaiah 50:4-7 NIV

The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed. The Sovereign Lord has opened my ears; I have not been rebellious; I have not turned away. I offered my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting. Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.

The Crimson Cord

Post 1121

Love is the thread that binds us.

Author Unknown

http://www.quotegarden.com/needlework.html

___

I wrote the original version of this post on the car trip home from the funeral of my brother-in-law a little more than two years ago. I first posted it here on 04/07/12. And except for a few brief words of update, it is exactly as I first penned it!

___

Bill was the love of my sister’s life and the joy he gave her was beyond measure. But I know he is proud of the life my sister has carved out for herself following his tragic and sudden passing. You see, we know that no matter what joy or sorrow comes her way in the years ahead, He will be there…. a comforting presence…. reminding her that everything will always be all right!

Mandy

___

The days are running together as if the hand  of God has somehow  gathered together the hours into some miraculous circle where time has no beginning nor ending. I was asked to speak but somehow the time was no more. The line of friends who needed to say words of comfort seemed miles long and the second hand of the clocked sped around the dial with what seemed like supersonic speed.

___

I had needed to jot down my thoughts because I was afraid I would be overcome and begin to cry. I placed my carefully chosen words in his pocket…. hidden between the folds of his handkerchief. It somehow seemed appropriate that he carry them with him always.

___

I had wanted to speak of a crimson cord binding all of our hearts together. I had wanted to speak of the fact the it was not blood that colored it red but the life force of many hearts and of the love each of us felt for each other. I had wanted to tell everyone that the emptiness would be filled…. eventually…. by the happy memories we each had of the time we spent together with him.

___

I would always remember his smile the day, more that 28 years ago now, when I asked him if he was really prepared to marry my sister! Obviously, he was because they had a loving and wonderful marriage that had endured so much. And then I began to think of the special moments they shared. The day he kissed his new bride in the garden at the library. The day he walked his daughter Brynn, down the aisle. The day he was introduced to his brand new grandson Kayden by his son George. Vacations in Aruba with Diane and Gene. Watching the Phillies with Melissa, Brynn and Sean. Riding his “Hog”. Getting a tattoo. Keeping a multinational corporation on the straight and narrow as Director of Information Technology. And so many more that to record them all would require a ream of paper!

___

Whatever it is that we best remember of Bill will fill that emptiness little by little until the hurt is gone and only those happy times linger in out hearts. And this is all that measures the worth of a person. The length of that crimson cord and lives whose hearts were bound together, forever, by its strength.

I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Revelation 21:2-4 NIV

I used to visit and revisit it a dozen times a day, and stand in deep contemplation over my vegetable progeny with a love that nobody could share or conceive of who had never taken part in the process of creation.  It was one of the most bewitching sights in the world to observe a hill of beans thrusting aside the soil, or a rose of early peas just peeping forth sufficiently to trace a line of delicate green.

Throughout history man has witnessed first hand or read about the miracles attributed to the hand of the Almighty. From the parting of the Red Sea which allowed the children of Israel safe escape from Egypt’s advancing army, to the raising of Lazarus from the dead, to those 21st century miracles we witness, such as the curing of a person suffering from the cruel effects of a terminal disease, we seek to understand that for which the only explanation must be that it was the result of some divine intervention. And yet, when Moses wrote in Genesis 1:1 that “in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth,” he summarized in one single sentence one of the most important miracles of all…..the miracle of creation!

I want everyone to close their eyes for just one moment and think about the feeling you got deep in the pit of your stomach the very first moment you shared the newly born life of one of God’s miracles of creation. Do you remember seeing that single, tiny, innocent taking that first breath or uttering the first noise to pass through a tiny mouth? Even people who have never been blessed with the miracle that is the birth of their own child have perhaps born witness to this once in a lifetime experience through another family member or perhaps through the birth of a beloved non human companion. Creation!

I was fortunate last week to be given a link for a video on You Tube that shows us first hand the very miracle of creation. I share the link for the video with you today. It is about 9 minutes long but I promise you that those 9 minutes will be the shortest you ever sat through. Once you are done viewing it, I defy any to say there is no God! For I believe it is truly the face of God we are seeing in every second of that piece!

Success in marriage does not come merely through finding the right mate, but through being the right mate.

When you begin writing a blog, you instantly become a member of a brand new club where you are given the opportunity of meeting thousands and thousands of new colleagues and friends. It is something I am embracing with each comment to my posts I moderate and each new follower I am lucky enough to find that wants to subscribe to my postings every day. “Keziah28”, who publishes a blog here on wordpress (http://kezi.wordpress.com/) is one of those kindred spirits that are somehow other directed into our lives. Her blogs are wonderful, based on specific scripture passages that embrace the idea she is looking to impart for the particular post she is scripting. I discovered one of her gems which I just have to share with you all. The title says it all and although we really need to credit the Almighty for His inspired verses, Kezi is the genius who managed to combine their message into one cohesive group. I did include the bible verses quoted here from the Contemporary English Version (CEV) of the Bible!

TEN BIBLICAL RULES FOR A HAPPY MARRIAGE!

1.     Never bring up mistakes of the past.

Jesus said:  Don’t judge others, and God won’t judge you. Don’t be hard on others, and God won’t be hard on you. Forgive others, and God will forgive you.

Luke 6:37

2.     Neglect the whole world rather than each other.

What will you gain, if you own the whole world but destroy yourself?

Mark 8:36

     3.     Never go to sleep with an argument unsettled.

Don’t get so angry that you sin. Don’t go to bed angry

Ephesians 4:26

4.     At least once a day, say something complimentary to your spouse.

Kind words are good medicine, but deceitful words can really hurt.

Proverbs 15:4

5.     Never meet without an affectionate welcome.

Kiss me tenderly! Your love is better than wine,

Song of Solomon 1:2

6. “For richer or poorer”- rejoice in every moment that God has given you together.

A simple meal with love is better than a feast where there is hatred.

Proverbs 15:17

7.     If you have a choice between making yourself or your mate look good, choose your mate.

Do all you can for everyone who deserves your help

Proverbs 3:27

8.     If they’re breathing, your mate will eventually offend you. Learn to forgive.

So be careful what you do. Correct any followers of mine who sin, and forgive the ones who say they are sorry. Even if one of them mistreats you seven times in one day and says, “I am sorry,” you should still forgive that person

Luke 17:3-4

9.     Don’t use faith, the Bible or God as a hammer.

1God did not send his Son into the world to condemn its people. He sent him to save them!

John 3:17

10.     Let love be your guidepost.

Love is kind and patient, never jealous, boastful, proud, or rude. Love isn’t selfish or quick tempered. It doesn’t keep a record of wrongs that others do.

1 Corinthians 13:4-5

My dear friends, we must love each other. Love comes from God, and when we love each other, it shows that we have been given new life. We are now God’s children, and we know him. God is love, and anyone who doesn’t love others has never known him.

1 John 4: 7-8 CEV
